Slice each banana lengthwise. Sift flours and add to water. Stir until consistency of cream. Add salt. Heat oil and, when smoking, dip each piece of banana in batter. Shake off excess and lower into hot oil. Fry until golden brown and roll in brown sugar. Serve with ice cream. As quoted from the book, This is an exotic way to treat bananas and it’’s practically a national snack among migrant populations in Southeast Asia who serve it with scoops of coconut or mango ice cream. Select 2 dozen of the fattest, firmest medjool dates you can find. Slit them down one side and remove the pit. Mix the marzipan with the food coloring in a small bowl; the color should be a dark, not pastel, green. Stuff each date with marzipan, allowing some to show through the slit. Arrange the dates on a platter and serve. This recipe yields 24 dates. 6 Whole cloves
1/4 c Sugar
1/2 c Port, sweet red wine or

2 tb Lemon juice

How to easily cook Free Recipe: SPICY FRUIT COMPOTE
Tie cinnamon stick and cloves in cheesecloth bag. Heat cheesecloth bag, sugar, port, water and lemon juice to boiling in 2-quart saucepan. Stir in dried fruit. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fruit is plump and tender. Refrigerate uncovered about 3 hours, stirring occasionally, until chilled.R cheesecloth bag. Stir bananas into fruit mixture until coated wit syrup. Drain fruit, reserving syrup. Serve fruit with some of the syrup Serve with sour cream or plain yogurt if desired. 6 SERVINGS; 220 CAL PER SERVING.
